Spoleto Festival USA goodies

Spoleto Festival USA is a pretty exciting festival produced by some pretty exciting people. The creative production staff behind the 2007 Spoleto Festival USA posted a YouTube video parodying the movie 300, showing a comedic look at just how much work goes into producing the festival. Check out the Spoleto shenanigans below:

If audio podcasts are your thing, a few links to shows covering previous years' Spoleto Festivals are offered below:
  • MyETV.com has a Spoleto Festival USA podcast hosted by Marcus Overton. Past podcasts are available for the 2007 festival year on iTunes. Click here for more info on subscribing to the show.
  • The people at SpoletoToday.com, part of the Post and Courier, have a podcast show where they interview people involved with the festival and review performances. The episodes, filled with entertaining banter, can be found here.
  • From Patrick Sharbaugh comes "Spoleto Buzzcast," which is hosted by the Charleston City Paper. The link takes you to podcasts from last year's festival, but features an interview with John Kennedy, who will be directing and programming the Music in Time series at this year's festival. (The SpoletoBuzz blog can be found here.)

Great post, Jessica. Glad to see somebody else is keeping tabs on the Spoleto Festival in the off-season!

I did want to correct a tiny error: my Spoleto blog and podcast are hosted each year not by the Post and Courier but by the Charleston City Paper, the local alt weekly -- Charleston's version of SF Weekly or the Bay Guardian. As such, it far predates theirs and is, we happen to think, a lot more interesting, but that's just our opinion.

Your can find our permanent SpoletoBuzz Blog here (http://spoletobuzz.ccpblogs.com) and all of my 13 podcasts from last year (including another with John Kennedy) here: http://feeds.feedburner.com/spoletobuzzpodcast. (For some reason last year's have disappeared from iTunes; I'll have to fix that.)

Bookmark us and please keep in touch as we get closer to the festival. I'll also add you to our blogroll asap. In the meantime, best wishes to everyone at FP and keep up the great work.

-Patrick Sharbaugh

Thanks for the correction and the link, Patrick. I've added your blog and podcast (which I really enjoyed, by the way) to our list of feeds.
